Spicy soya chunks fry | Meal maker fry | Soya chunks recipes | Meal maker recipes

This spicy soya chunks fry is a spicer and a deep fry version. I already have a Soya chunks fry version which is totally a different method. This recipe I got from here and for me it tasted something like Mutton kola urundai recipe and I liked the taste.

Spicy Soya chunks fry

Preparation time: 10 min | Cook Time: 5 min | Serves: 6

Ingredients 
Soya chunks / meal maker - 2 cups
Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Coriander leaves - 3 tsp chopped finely
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Rice flour - 3 tbsp
Corn flour - 1 tbsp
Salt - as per taste
Oil- for frying

Method 

1. Soak the soya in water till they become soft.

2. Squeeze water completely.


3. Transfer to food processor.

4. Grind it well and add the chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt.

5. Add the Ginger garlic paste and curry leaves.

6. Process to get a crumble form.

7. Add the rice flour and corn flour and maida flour.

8. Take a small portion and make round balls.

9. Heat oil in a pan in medium flame. 
10. Drop balls one by one slowly and fry it.

11. When all balls turn golden or light brown color, remove from oil.

12. Serve them as side dish to any main rice or eat just like that with tomato sauce.

Easy n yummy spicy soya balls are ready. 

Notes:
1. Try to make the balls tightly.
2. When dropping the balls, drop slowly and start rotating the oil, for even cooking.
3. First fry one ball and check for the spice leaves (like salt, chilli etc).
4. Binding the balls with rice flour or corn flour is important. If flour is less, then when dropping the balls, it will be splitted into small pieces.

Soya chunks masala | Soya balls masala | How to make Meal Maker Masala | Meal Maker Recipes | North Indian Curries

Soya chunks or the meal maker are my kids favorite (even mine) and they love it when I do this Soya Chunks Fry. But this soya chunks masala I tasted in one of the Indian food court here and I liked the taste. So tried to my best to get the same taste. But I added fenugreek leaves to this masala, as I like to add in the North Indian Curries. I had it with Paneer Pulao as mentioned in my last post.

Meal maker curry

Soya Chunks Masala

Preparation time: 15 min | Cook Time: 20 min | Serves: 4
Recipe Category: Side dish | Recipe Cuisine: Indian


Ingredients
Soya balls - 1 cup
Onion - 2
Tomato - 2
Ginger garlic paste - 1.5 tsp
Chilli powder - 1.5 tsp
Coriander - 1 tsp
Turmeric - a pinch
Fenugreek leaves - 1 tbsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Yoghurt/curd - 2 tsp
Cream - 1 tbsp
( I substituted with milk - 3 tbsp )
Salt - as per taste
Coriander leaves for garnishing 

Spices
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
Star anise - 1
Cinnamon stick - 1 crushed
Cloves - few



Method

1. Soak the soya balls for 1/2 hour or as mentioned in the packet.

2. Squeeze the water completely and leave it to get dry for 10 min.
3. Chop the onions and tomato and grind to a smooth paste. In a pan add the oil and it is hot add the spicies and fry them for 30 sec. Do not make it black. Add the ginger garlic paste and sauté till the raw smell goes off.


4. Add the onion tomato paste and sauté it for 5 min atleast. Add some water if you want.


5. Add the chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric and salt. Mix and allow to boil for 2 min. Take the dry fenugreek leaves, crush in your hand and add it to the masala. 


6. Sauté them nicely till the oil starts oozing out. Add the yogurt at this stage.


7. When the gravy is thick, add the soya chunks and mix them well with the masala.


8. Add the cream or milk and garam masala and simmer and cook for another 5 min.


9. Garnish with coriander seeds and serve. You can pair it with any mild Pulaos or Roti or Naan.

Notes:
1. To make your gravy rich, you can grind and add the cashew paste when you add the cream.

Soya chunks fry or meal maker fry is one of the easiest and tasty fry I can say. When I was working in India my office colleague brought this soya chunks fry and I loved the taste immediately. From that time on wards it has become one of my favorite evening snack and a easy to do snack when I am not in a mood to cook any side dish for rice.

How to make soya chunks fry / meal maker fry / soya balls fry

Preparation time: 30 min | Cook Time: 10 min | Serves:3
Recipe Category: Side dish | Recipe Cuisine: Indian

Ingredients
1. Soya chunks - 1 cup
2. Oil - 2 tsp
3. Chilli powder - 3/4 tsp
4. Turmeric powder - 2 pinch
5. Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
6. Salt - as per taste
7. Water for soaking soya chunks

Method

1. Soak the soya balls for 1/2 hour or as mentioned in the packet.
2. Squeeze the water completely and leave it to get dry for 10 min.
3. Now in a vessel or kadai add the oil and when it is hot add the powders and salt and start fryinG it. Keep the flame in low while doing so.
4. Now add the soya balls and start mixing it thoroughly until the balls are coated with the powders. Keep doing for another 6 to 8 min. Keep the flame in medium.
5. Switch off the stove and serve the yummy fry as a side dish or have it as a evening snack.

Notes
You can adjust the spiciness according to your taste.
If you like you can make the tempering by adding mustard seeds, curry leaves and urus dal before adding the powders. I didn't add as I love to make this way.

Soya Chunks Cutlet - How to make Meal Maker Cutlet | Breakfast Recipes | Soya Recipes | Meal maker Recipes

I always love the cutlet. That too the protein rich Soya chunks cutlet or the Meal maker Cutlet. Kids will definitely love this kind of cutlet, with different shapes. It is a perfect party snack, and easy to prepare too. Here I have deep fried the cutlets, and you can make it shallow fry it in a tawa itself. Both tasts awesome with simple tomato sauce.

How to make Soya chunks Cutlet / Meal maker Cutlet

Ingredients
  • Soya Chunks (meal maker) - 2 cups
  • Potato - 1 large(boiled n peeled)
  • Vegetables - 1 cup ( I used mixed vegetables of corn, carrot, beans and peas)
  • Green chillies - 1 (chopped finely)
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Bread crumps - 3 tsp
  • All purpose flour - 2 tsp
  • Corn flour - 1 tsp
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Oil - for frying
  • Salt - as per taste


Method
  • Wash and Soak soya chunks in water for 20 to 30 mts.
  • Squeeze out the water completely.
  • Grind in a mixer grinder or food processor.
  • Cook the vegetables with little water and a pinch of salt.
  • Drain the water and keep aside.
  • Now in a big vessel, add the grinded soya chunks, chilli powder, green chillies, coriander powder, garam masala and mix well.
  • To this add the potato, and smash it nicely.
  • Now add the cooked vegetables, and salt and again mix nicely to form a thick dough consistency.
  • Take a small portion of the vegetable mixture and make into a desired shapes.
  • In a small bowl, add the all purpose flour and corn flour and mix water to it.
  • Now dip the cutlet to the all purpose and corn flour mix and immediately put it into the bread crumps and turn it to the other sides also, till they are well coated with the bread crumps. (click here to make bread crumps at home)

  • Now in a pan, pour oil and heat it.
  • When the oil is hot, fry the coated cutlets one by one and fry nicely, until it is brown in colour.
  • Remove from oil, filter the oil.
  • Serve the soya cutlets with a ketchup....
