Its my pleasure to announce the great event - Celebrate Sweets - Stuffed Sweets which is a brainchild of Nivedita and now, guest hosted by me, for the month of May. I first thank Nivedita, for giving the wonderful opportunity to host the event. Hope all my lovely fellow bloggers, will give support as usual and make the event a grand success. My 150th Post - Eggless Butter Cookies and Event: Dish Name Starts with E

Time ran so fast, and i didnt notice that this is my 150th post. I might have not reached this position without you all and your valuable comments and encouragement. Thank you all my dear friends.

First wish you all a very happy new year.....

Next comes the recipe....

Ingredients

• All Purpose Flower - 1.5 cups
• Butter - 3/4 to 1 cup ( i used salted butter)
• Sugar - 1/2 cup to 3/4 th cup ( or can adjust as ur taste)
• Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
• Baking soda - 1/4 tsp

Method

• Mix the Butter and Sugar together until it becomes fluffy.
• Preheat the oven to 180 degree Celcius.
• Now in the butter add the all purpose flour, baking soda and baking powder and mix well.

• Make in to small balls and flatten a little bit with your palms and arrange them in the tray leaving gap inbetween and bake them for 20 to 25 min.
• Store the cooking in air tight container for its longer life. (In my case, it is over within 1 hr).

Note:

• Buter should be in room temperature.

My 100th Post - Babycorn Mushroom Masala and event announcement

Ingredients

• Baby corn – 1 pkt
• Sliced White Mushrooms -  1 pkt
• Cumin seeds – a pinch
• Fennel seeds – a pinch
• Star anise – 1 – crushed nicely
• cinnamon stick – 1 inch – crushed nicely
• Cloves – 3 to 4  - crushed nicely
• Cardamom powder – a pinch
• Onion – 2 – chopped finely.
• Tomato – 2 ( grinded to fine paste)
• Ginger garlic paste – 1.5 tsp
• Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
• Coriander powder – 1 tsp
• Red chilli powder – 1.5 tsp
• Salt as per taste
• Garam masala – 1 tsp
• Lemon juice/vinegar – 1 tsp
• Milk – ½ cup (optional)
• Oil  - 4 tsp
• Ghee – 2 tsp
• Coriander leaves – for garnishing
• Tomato, onion, lemon pieces – for garnishing                                
• Water – as needed

Method

• Take 2 tsp of finely chopped onion and keep aside and grind the remaining portion of onion to a fine paste.
• In a pan, add ghee and fry the babycorns first for 5 min  and keep aside.
• Add mushrooms and just fry for 2 min and keep aside.
• Now in the same pan, add the oil and add the spieces.
• When they start spluttering, add the chopped onion and fry till they become translucent. Now add the onion paste and fry till the raw smell goes off.
• Add the tomato paste and ginger garlic paste and cook for 5 min.
• Now add the baby corns first and all the mentioned powders and salt one by one with little water added allowing the baby corns to cook. (it may take some 7 to 10min)
• Now add the mushrooms.
• By this time, the gravy would be very thick. Add the milk now ( u can add water also) and allow to cook for another 5 more min.
• Now the oil will start coming out slowly. At this time add the lemon juice and mix well and cook for just another 3 more min.
• Transfer it to serving place and garnish with coriander leaves, tomato, onion and lemon.
• Serve with chappathi, roti or naan.

Event: Celebrating Independence Day(CID) - 2010

Hi all,
We Indian people, Celebrate many Festivals. Some according to Religion, Like Diwali – Hindu, Christmas – Christians, Hari Raya – Muslims etc.
But as Indians, Why not we celebrate our Independence Day as a festival.
So got the idea of conducting an Event to celebrate our Independence Day.

Event topic: Celebrating Independence Day (CID) – 2010

Send in your entries in form of special recipes from July 25th to Aug 15th. Grace period of extra 5 days is given to send your posts (till Aug 20th).

The Round-up of CID - 2010 will be posted by Aug 30th.

Rules:

1. Post any special recipe / your favourite recipe (or multiple recipes) that comes in your mind when you think of our Independence Day.
2. It can be of any dish... (Veg or Non - veg except Beef or pork)
3. If possible dedicate it to any freedom fighter (or freedom fighters).
