If you are my regular reader, then you know I am great fan of prawns. I try different recipes using prawns. This Prawn Fry in Andhra style is one such recipe wich I tried recently and came out good. I tried the recipe from here. I felt bit spicy when took separately but when I had along with chicken Briyani, I felt its tastes good. Next time will reduce the the spiciness. Prawn Fry in Andhra Style

Preparation time: 30 min | Cook Time: 20 min

Ingredients



For Marination 

Prawns - 1/2 kg or around 30 to 35 pieces
Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 2 tsp

For fry

Onion - 2 medium sized
Garlic - chopped finely 
Fenugreek leaves / Kasoori methi - 1.5 tsp(optional)
Chilli powder - 1 tsp 
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Oil - 3 tsp
Mustard seeds - 2 pinches
Urud dal - 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Grated Coconut - 1/4 cup




Method


1. Wash and devein the shells of prawns. Remove the black thread like part from the prawns. Wash with salt and let it dry. Add the chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, ginger garlic paste and lemon juice and mix thoroughly.

2. Let it marinate for 30 to 40 min. After 40 min transfer to a vessel and heat it.

3. The prawns leaves out water and allow the prawns to cook with that water. The prawns will become curly as shown. Cook till no water remains or filter out the water if prawns are cooked already.

4. Transfer the prawns to another bowl and using the same pan, add oil, and when hot add the mustard seeds, Urud dal, fennel seeds and fry. Add the garlic and Onion.

5. When the onions turns pale add the curry leaves, fry for a min. Add the prawns and mix well.

6. Add the coriander powder, chilli powder, garam masala and mix well. Sprinkle little water, if you want.

7. Add the grated coconut and mix thoroughly. Cook for another 5 min and switch off the stove.

8. Serve the yummy Andhra style prawns with rice.

Notes: 
1. Prawns while cooking leaves water. If that water is not enough for the prawns to cook, then add very little amount of water until prawns are cooked well. 
2. While adding the curry leaves, you can add the methi leaves also. It enhances the taste.
